About Us

Coulter Ag is a Central Texas agricultural operation focused on the production of premium coastal Bermuda hay and dependable agricultural services. Located in Robertson County, Texas, our operation combines established hay fields, modern equipment, efficient production practices, and a commitment to consistent quality throughout every stage of the harvest process.

Our focus is simple: produce clean, reliable hay while maintaining dependable availability for our customers. From field preparation and cutting to baling and handling, every aspect of production is managed with attention to consistency, nutrition, and overall bale quality.

Our hay is routinely inspected, weighed, and tested throughout production to help maintain consistent quality standards. Select hay production can also be enhanced with added minerals and vitamins for customers seeking additional nutritional support during periods of seasonal stress or limited forage availability.

Coulter Ag utilizes modern agricultural equipment and the latest hay production technology to support both efficiency and forage quality throughout the harvest process. From advanced conditioning systems designed to promote proper drying, to modern windrowing and bale handling equipment that minimizes unnecessary product loss and excessive handling, our operation is focused on producing dependable, high-quality coastal Bermuda hay season after season.

Our Story

While Coulter Ag is a new name, the land and hay fields we farm have been producing coastal Bermuda hay for decades.

After the passing of Mike's father, stewardship of the family farm was entrusted to the next generation. Coulter Ag represents both a continuation of that legacy and a renewed commitment to the land that has been part of the family for many years.

The name "Coulter Ag" carries special meaning for our family. While a coulter is the cutting disc used in many agricultural implements, the name also honors our late son, Coulter, who loved tractors, farm equipment, and life on the farm. Through this operation, we are proud to carry forward both our family's agricultural heritage and his memory.

Like many who grew up in rural communities, Mike spent his early years helping on the family farm before pursuing a career in another area of the agricultural industry. For more than three decades, he worked alongside livestock shows, fairs, and agricultural organizations across the country, helping support the events and programs that serve agricultural communities. He later returned to production agriculture with a renewed appreciation for farming, stewardship, and the agricultural way of life.

Today, Mike, Courtney, and their family are honored to carry that legacy forward. As a family-owned operation, Coulter Ag is built on a commitment to responsible stewardship, continuous learning, and producing quality hay that customers can depend on year after year.

Agriculture has changed considerably over the years, and we do not pretend to have all the answers. Every season presents new opportunities to learn, improve, and benefit from the experience and knowledge of producers who have spent their lives in this industry. We are grateful for the advice, encouragement, and practical wisdom shared by neighbors, fellow producers, agricultural professionals, and generations of farmers and ranchers who continue to help us grow.

We believe there is value in combining modern technology with time-tested agricultural practices. Our goal is to produce consistent, high-quality hay, treat customers fairly, and be a dependable part of the agricultural community for years to come. We are committed to continuous improvement and to maintaining standards our customers can rely upon season after season.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

The Coulter Ag logo is centered around a coulter, the cutting disc commonly found on agricultural equipment and the inspiration for our company name. While a coulter represents our agricultural roots, the five openings in the disc carry a deeper meaning for our family.

Just as the five openings secure the coulter to the equipment it serves, they remind us of the values that anchor our family of five, and our operation: Family, Stewardship, Faith, Consistency, and Quality.

The coastal Bermuda grass seed head incorporated into our logo serves as a recognizable symbol of the crop we proudly produce. While premium hay is typically harvested before seed heads fully develop, we chose to include it as a tribute to the land, the crop, and the agricultural heritage that define our operation. Together with the coulter, it reflects both our agricultural roots and our commitment to the future.

The name Coulter Ag also honors our late son, Coulter, whose love for tractors, farm equipment, and life on the farm continues to inspire us. Together, the name and logo serve as a reminder of the legacy we have inherited, the values that guide us, and the responsibility we carry forward each day.
